Day 1. Departure from Reykjavik not later than 9am heading east via the village of Hveragerði (coffee stop available), the small town of Selfoss and head on east to the Thjorsardalur valley and in to the interior. We have a coffee stop and stretch at Hrauneyjar and then continue into the remote mountain road of Sprengisandur and cross the barren and desolate area of central Iceland. Various stops for photos and stretching on the way.
Once in the middle of Iceland we have two options, depending on your accommodation for the night. One is to head west on road go down to the Eyjafjörður area and the town of Akureyri along road F752/821. The other is to continue straight north into Barðardalur (F26) with stops at the waterfalls Hrafnabjargafoss and Aldeyjarfoss and then head down into the Bardardalur valley, the longest valley in Iceland and look at the beautiful Godafoss waterfall.
Day 2. Departure from hotel not later than 9am heading west through the town of Akureyri and then we head north and drive around the Trollaskagi peninsula (Peninsula of Trolls), and through the small fishing towns of Dalvik, Ólafsfjördur and Siglufjörður and the village of Hofsós which has a world renown swimming pool if you want a nice swim. Photo stops and stretching along the way.
Once on the main road again we continue west and then turn left and south into the interior along the road Kjalvegur (F35) and cross Iceland again, first through the grassy heaths of the north and then into the barren wasteland of central Iceland. Possible stop at Hveravellir for coffee and stretching and then on to Gullfoss for a look at our most famous waterfall.
From there we continue to the Geysir geothermal area and look at a sprouting hot spring before heading back to Reykjavik via the National Park of Thingvellir.
